Revell Blog Tour for "Love Amid The Ashes" by Mesu Andrews

Love Amid The Ashes by Mesu Andrews is a spectacular Biblical fiction that proves just how exciting the Old Testament really can be! She brings the story of Job to life from a very unique perspective!

Our story begins right around the time when one of the Biblical patriarchs, Isaac, had died, which was in 1880 BC. In this story we get to spend time with so many Biblical figures like Jacob, Esau, Dinah, and Joseph. Job was a relative of theirs, and we get to know the whole family and spend time with them. It reads like an incredible novel, but it brings these people to life. I always have more trouble relating to the Old Testament for some reason, but when it's put into a novel like this, it all becomes so real! It's Biblically based, but of course there is some fiction to fill out the story. I love the way the author uses real scripture at the beginnings of the chapters.

I'm not sure why we often think of the Bible as boring because these stories are anything but boring! There were constant wars and dangers of the land. A sudden storm could wipe out an entire village. There was drought, famine, disease, and poverty. There was also love and loss and betrayal. All the makings of a fabulous novel!

I VERY highly recommend this book. It is beautifully written, with powerful characters that you will not forget! The best part is that most of the characters are real Biblical figures that you will recognize. Even if you have no knowledge of the Bible story at all, I think you will enjoy this story. Job was the ultimate example of pure faith in God! And what a great story. There's danger, suspense, family drama, and even romance. I look forward to seeing what this great author has for us next!

Some do not like Biblical fiction, but I do. This one is going on my TBR list.

I am almost finished with this book, and I did not like the way the author overly embellished the story of Job. We do not actually know who Job was, much less that he was related to Jacob or Esau.

If you want a really good biblical fiction, try Bathsheba by Jill Eileen Smith. Now THAT's how biblical fiction should be written!

Judy, I also read & reviewed Bathsheba just a few days ago and loved it! Different people have different tastes. All Biblical fiction, by nature, has some fiction in it. Some people don't like Biblical fiction at all. I enjoy it! Thank you for stopping by.
