Revell Blog Tour for "Bathsheba" by Jill Eileen Smith

Bathsheba by Jill Eileen Smith is book three in The Wives of King David series. The first two books were Michal and Abigail. I have loved this whole series but this was a beautiful conclusion and probably my favorite of the series.

The author does an incredible job of taking actual Biblical detail and then adding some fictional detail to it in order to fill it out and bring the story to life. We know much of what happened, but we don't always get a real sense of how the people felt in situations. I think Jill does this remarkably well without messing with the parts that we already know. In fact, much of the story will often be straight from the Bible. But, she adds in conversations and hels us to see how it might have played out in between those times when we don't know what happened.

The story reads just like a novel. It's fascinating, and it draws you in and hooks you. The characters will steal your heart and for me, it's even more meaningful that they were real. If you've evern found yourself having trouble relating to Old Testament Biblical figures, this is a great way to really bring them to life!

I VERY highly recommend this book! The writing is wonderful and the author brings these Biblical people to life and will make you feel as if you knew them. I do think this book is my favorite of the series, although I felt that way as I read each one of them. I love the way the author keeps the integrity of the Biblical story while filling it out to make it come to life. I feel as if I can relate better to King David after this series! I cannot wait for more books from Jill!

Book Summary:

Can love triumph over treachery?

Bathsheba is a woman who longs for love. With her husband away fighting the king's wars, she battles encroaching loneliness--which makes it all too easy to succumb to the advances of King David. Will one night of unbridled passion destroy everything she holds dear? Can she find forgiveness at the feet of the Almighty? Or has her sin separated her from God forever?

With a historian's sharp eye for detail and a novelist's creative spirit, Jill Eileen Smith brings to life the passionate and emotional story of David's most famous--and infamous--wife. You will never read the story of David and Bathsheba the same way again.
