Hush by Kate White is an outstanding suspense thriller! This is the first book I have read by this author but I will certainly be looking for more of her books now!
For a long time I wouldn't even read anything but suspense and although I have branched out now, and I read and enjoy all types of books, I think I'm probably still a bit partial to a good suspense thriller. Hush is an excellent one and it's entertaining on different levels too. I'm going to try to tell you a little about the book but I can't tell you much about this one because there are a lot of great twists and surprises in this one that I don't want to spoil. Those are my favorite kinds, and I want you to be able to read it and be surprised too!
Lake Warren is a marketing consultant with only one big client. She is also recently separated and is now a single mom. She's right in the middle of a nasty divorce negotiation and trying to adjust to everything. Suddenly her entire world is turned upside down when she finds herself right in the middle of a huge controversy thanks to her big client. Lake has seen something that she should tell but she's too afraid of how it will look if she does. Everything around her just keeps getting more and more strange and she is starting to think she's in real danger.
I loved the characters in this story. Lake is so real and likeable and I was rooting for her all the way. She's a strong, capable, intellegent woman who runs her own consulting business. She's also a mom and that comes first.
(For my blog readers who only read Christian books, this book book is not a Christian fiction title and there is some sex and language.)
I VERY highly recommend this book! The writing is fabulous and the story had me hooked from page one. I read it in one day in practically one sitting because I could not put it down! There is intense suspense, lots of twists and surprises, romance, and drama. The characters are colorful and seem so real. The story is unique and relevant to our modern times. I'm definitely a new fan of Kate White!
Book Summary:
Four months after their separation, marketing consultant Lake Warren faces a tough legal battle with her husband, Jack, for custody of their two kids. Though the timing couldn’t be worse, she finds herself responding to the flirtations of Dr. Mark Keaton, her handsome colleague at the Advanced Fertility Center. But the morning after their one-night stand, Lake discovers Keaton with his throat slashed.
Afraid of losing her children forever, Lake lies to the police—and begins searching for the truth on her own before she can be charged with the heinous crime. She starts getting hostile treatment from her coworkers, and strange clues start appearing, quite literally, on her doorstep. Soon Lake is pulled dangerously close to the very dark secrets surrounding the slain man and the clinic where they worked. And suddenly the police are not the only ones hunting Lake Warren.
