If I ... I Will by Debbie Sutton Covington is a fabulous little book that looks at the story of the suffering woman in Mark 5 that Jesus healed. I have always loved this scriipture and in this book the author breaks it down, and in very simple language relates it to you and me and every woman of today who is in some way suffering or who has suffered. How do we get past that suffering and move on? That's what this is all about.
I love the way she writes as if she were sitting in my living room speaking to me. It's easily understood, but also feels very personal and I really know that she cares for the women she speaks to and writes to. She also includes some very personal stories of her own struggles and personal heartaches and trials and suffering. She isn't just writing about things that she knows nothing about. She's been there, and she understands.
I very highly recommend this book. It's a small book and an easy read, but boy it packs a very powerful message in a small book! I love the way she uses a relatively short scripture and breaks it down in some cases phrase by phrase. She talks about the meanings of the scripture, and also what it means to us, and how we can put it to work in our lives and move forward. It would be a great book for a small group study or for an individual either one. It would make a great gift book for a friend as well.
Book Summary:
If I…I will: simple words, but do we ever move past the “ifs” in our lives? Do we know in our hearts and minds that God indeed will help us to achieve our dreams and goals? If I…I Will is an insightful look at the healing of the suffering woman in Mark 5 whom Jesus healed. And just like that suffering woman, we must step past our suffering, the words we may hear, our own thoughts, and the crowds around us to reach for Jesus. What if we reach Jesus? Will He change our lives forever? Will He heal us? Yes, indeed! Maybe Jesus won’t follow the way we envision the healing or the change to happen, but faith in Jesus will forever change us. So, step out and reach for Jesus’ hand, and begin the adventure of a lifetime.

Michelle,
Thank you so much for your sweet review of my little book! It was kind and your words were truly a gift that I treasure! God is good and has been good to me. Never when I was walking the path of infertility did I think I would speak the words about it being a treasure, but it has been!
I believe when God heals us we should share the gift with others. It helps others to know we have walked in their shoes. It may give them hope, it may give them strength or it may just help them to know they aren't alone. Your gift of space by sharing your blog to talk about my book hopefully will help another hurting person! It may not be the same hurt as mine, but we all hurt at some point.
Again, thanks Michelle for reviewing my book and the gift of taking the time! Time is a very precious gift given to others!
Thank you so much!
Sweet blessings,
Debbie Covington
